First edition, first issue in green cloth. Original publisher's original green cloth, titles to spine gilt, in sliver and green dustwrapper. A fine copy in a very good dustwrapper indeed, which just has a small chip to the head of the spine restored but is exceptionally bright and crisp. The lettering, which is so prone to wear, is in perfect condition.
The first issue if this book is scarce, particularly in a dustwrapper, which is made of a paper-backed foil over which is printed an unsealed design and lettering. The effect is quite striking, but the thinness of the paper means that the dustwrapper is particularly fragile and thus rarely encountered. Where it is, the lettering has usually been partially worn away. Copies which are as well preserved as this one are rare.
