by their Latest Victim.
Chatto & Windus, 1916.
First edition in this format. 8vo. Green pictorial cloth. With coloured frontispiece and sixty black and white illustrations. A very good copy of a charming tale.
John Habberton (1842 - 1921) was an American author who spent nearly twenty years as the literary and drama critic for the New York Herald. This is his delightful tale of Toddie and Budge who are always up to something. When their Uncle Harry comes to baby sit for ten days whilst their mother Helen is out of town, all sorts of comic mischief ensues. It just so happens that there's a lovely young lady in the neighbourhood whom Harry admires very much, who always seems to be pass by while he's deep in some terrible mess of the boys' making.
