First edition, first issue without the legend "by the author of Peter Rabbit" on the title page. 12mo. Grey paper covered boards with white lettering and pictorial onlay to the upper cover. Pictorial endpapers and colour illustrations throughout by the author. A near fine copy, which is bright and crisp, with just a slight bump to the top of the spine and light creasing to the edge of pages 80/81.
The second of Potter's animal tales to be published. Rare in such excellent condition.
