Finely bound in brown morocco by the W.H.Smith bindery (blind stamped WHS on the rear pastedown) to a design by Douglas Cockerell, raised bands on the spine, lettered in gilt and with ruled decoration in gilt. Gilt rules with dot and floral motif to the boards, and with elaborate gilt leaf and floral designed dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Photogravure portrait frontis, after a painting by George Clint. A near fine copy of a very handsome binding. Slightest of bowing to the boards and traces of foxing to the endpapers.
