Early American edition, the first in this format. 8vo. Gold cloth with lettering in red, in original dustwrapper. Pictorial endpapers decorated in orange. Twenty-five mounted colour plates, as well as many line drawings in Nielsen's striking style. A very good copy indeed, bright and crisp, with previous ownership inscription to front free endpaper and front hinge split, in a good dustwrapper, neat repair to the front joint and chips to spine ends.
This early American edition includes all of the 25 illustrations for these Norse tales, whereas later editions have only 24 plates.
