First edition. 4to. Tan cloth with green lettering and vignettes. Pictorial endpapers with elfin figures and gold spider's web design. Eleven full page illustrations of which 8 are in colour. In addition there are a host of line drawings in the text. A very good copy, some general light dustiness and two edge tears to a couple of lower margins. Bookplate to front free endpaper verso.
Florence Mary Anderson, née MacArthur, (1893 - 1972) illustrated a number children's books in the period from 1914 - 1928. Her work consisted mainly of delicate fairy pictures and is now greatly sought after.
