AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY
Brave New World
Chatto & Windus, 1932.
First edition. Publisher's blue cloth, lettered gilt, in the (supplied) stylish blue dustwrapper. Inscribed by Huxley "For Dr James Meyers with good wishes Aldous Huxley 1939." A very good copy, slightly cocked with a little rubbing to the joints. The very good dustwrapper remains clean, with some repairs and restoration to the edges.
Inscribed copies of Huxley's Brave New World are most uncommon. The author's highlight and twentieth century classic. "...[a] brilliantly plausible fantasy he has constructed from his scientific gleanings. It is a Utopia which is never dull, of which the horror is always credible..." (Connolly).
PROVENANCE: Dr James Meyers (presentation inscription); Pierre Berge (his bookplate to verso of front endpaper).
Connolly 75.
