An Uproariously Funny Family Game
Tempest An Uproariously Funny Family Game
Thomas De La Rue & Co., 1930.
An original card game illustrated by Heath Robinson. Housed in the original red box, with the upper cover illustrated in colour. The game comprises fifty-four cards each illustrated with a different black and white cartoon, a metal weather vane with base and the rules pamphlet. In near fine condition. Both the box and contents are in bright, clean condition, with just light wear to the box edges. A remarkable survival.
Exceedingly rare, especially so with all original pieces and in such lovely condition. The game is designed to be played by four to eight players around a table. Its aim is to collect a 'Wind', that is to hold all the cards bearing a certain direction of wind, such as the "Raging North West", illustrated in Heath Robinson's playful style variously as "A Raging Recruit", "A Raging Roadhog", " Raging Reveller" and so forth. A charming piece of pre-war ephemera.
