Elements of Political Economy

MILL, James

MILL, James Elements of Political Economy

Baldwin, Cradock and Joy, 1821.

First edition. 8vo. Contemporary full calf, with raised bands and morocco title label to spine. A fine copy with just a trace of wear to the joints. Ownership inscription to the front pastedown and annotation to the title page, but internally exceptionally clean. A superb copy of a scarce and important work.

James Mill, father of John Stuart Mill, was, with David Ricardo, one of the founders of modern economic thought. Elements of Political Economy originated from lessons given to John Stuart, who was home schooled, and was much in demand when published for a greater audience. It is now regarded as James Mill's most significant contribution to classical economics.
