Dorothy North, daughter-in-law to the 12th Baron North, was a close member of Christie's London social circle in the 1930s. North's daughter, Susan, and Christie's daughter, Rosalind, were best friends in their 20s (they are joint dedicatees of her 1939 novel, Murder is Easy).
In 1937 Dorothy was entrusted with presenting the eighteen year old Rosalind at court (Christie, as a divorcee, being unable to do so). She is the dedicatee of One, Two, Buckle My Shoe.
