CHRISTIE, Agatha

CHRISTIE, Agatha The Adventures of the Christmas Pudding and a Selection of Entreés

Collins 1960.

First edition. Red boards lettered in black in printed dustwrapper. Author's presentation copy, inscribed to the front end paper, "To Dorothy from Agatha" A near fine copy, with a slightly dusty spine, in a near fine dustwrapper, with a little foxing to the rear panel and light marks to the head of the spine.

Dorothy North, daughter-in-law to the 12th Baron North, was a close member of Christie's London social circle from the 1930s. North's daughter, Susan, and Christie's daughter, Rosalind, were best friends in their 20s (they are joint dedicatees of her 1939 novel, Murder is Easy).
In 1937 Dorothy was entrusted with presenting the eighteen year old Rosalind at court (Christie, as a divorcee, being unable to do so). She is the dedicatee of One, Two, Buckle My Shoe.
Five of the six short stories feature Hercule Poirot, but the sixth story features Miss Marple. This is the only Christie first edition that contains stories featuring both of her most famous detectives.
