School emblem in gilt on the upper cover and gilt rules to the boards. Marbled endpapers and all edges marbled. Portrait frontis and nine full page etchings by George Reid, plus numerous etchings in the text. A very good copy, occasional foxing.
Thomas Edward (1814-1886) was a Scottish naturalist, who lived most of his life in Banff, Aberdeenshire, where he devoted himself to the study of animal nature.
