The Whitsun Weddings

LARKIN, Philip

LARKIN, Philip The Whitsun Weddings

Faber, 1964.

First edition. Original maroon cloth in the printed dustwrapper. Loosely laid in is the appropriate copy of the Poetry Book Society Bulletin (February 1964), which names The Whitsun Weddings as their Spring Choice, and features an introuduction to the collection by Larkin. A near fine copy, ownership inscription to front free endpaper, in a near fine dustwrapper, lightly toned to spine.

One of the finest collections of post-war poetry. It contains some of Larkin's best work, including the titular poem, as well as For Sidney Bechet, Days, MCMIV, Dockery And Son and An Arundel Tomb.
