First edition. Three volumes, square octavo. Original publisher's cinnamon cloth with blind decorated border and vignette in gilt to upper cover and titles in gilt to the spine. Hair-veined marbled endpapers and edges. The single leaf of adverts to each volume in the first state. Steel engraved frontis[piece to each volume by F.W.Topham. A near fine set. A little uniform fraying to the spines with a touch of wear to the spine ends of volume I and the beginnings of fraying to the joints. An excellent set.
