Original publisher's full green morocco by Zaehnsdorf and protected by publisher's printed slipcase. Raised bands and gilt titles to spine, upper cover has a gilt stamped illustration of the characters from the books. All edges gilt. Full colour endpapers and many colour illustrations by Shepard. A near fine copy, just a hint of toning to the spine. A beautiful copy of this classic tale.
Since E.H. Shepard first illustrated Grahame's classic tale of the Riverbank in 1931, his images have become inextricably linked with the story. For this edition, Shepard redrew his illustrations basing them on the 1931 illustrations but adding colour.
